Has anyone used timbrens vice airbags on their trucks for suspension improvement.
I have a 3500 1 ton, SRW, 2004 Dodge and I am considering installing timbrens to reduce truck squat when I have the 805 lance camper on as well as towing a horse trailer. |

There seem to be a lot of posts on this, but here is my opinion. I have a 2006 F250 and a Lance 825. Before that I had a Northstar 650 for about 3 years. When I purchased the NS I also had Timbrens installed because the truck squatted. Cheaper than air bags, and maintenance free. They mostly leveled the truck out, however, since the Lance is a little heavier and sticks out the back, I decided to go with air bags, and I'm glad I did. I have found the truck to handle better with the air bags. And when the truck is off the camper, I can lower the air bag pressure. Timbrens and an empty load made for a very rough ride. Hope that helps.

I removed my Air Lift 5000 air bags with the on board compressor and in cab controls and installed Timbrens a couple of years ago. One of the Air Lifts had a bent base plate from the "pounding" of the heavy camper and rough highways allowing the air bag offset which would have eventually blown out the bag if I had continued with it. Also with air bags lowered to 5 psi, they affected the empty ride adversely.
I have been pleased with the Timbrens and they hold up our heavy, 11'6", one slideout Lance 1121 very well. There is nearly 2" of clearance above the rear axle, and with an effective rear shock absorbers, they don't affect with the empty ride. I have added taller bump stops on the frame mounted overload spring bump stops which engage the overload springs at about the same time as the Timbrens. The combination of the overload springs and the truck's main spring pack are robust enough that I never ran the air bags over 45 PSI. I also have a Hellwig anti-sway bar. This combination makes sway from passing trucks on 2-lane roads and cross winds very mimimal. BTW, I've used air bags for many years on several different trucks hauling several different Lance campers. So far, the Timbrens have been hassle free and maintenance free. I have a 2008 F450 with a Lance 1191. The Timbrens took out all but a couple of inches of sagging. That will go with a couple of added leaves to the spring pack. I had air bags on my F250 (Lance 1010) but did not want to go that route this time around.

I have now added two additional leaves the the spring pack along with the initial installation of the Timbrens. Absolutely no sagging of this heavy camper on this very capable truck. All this and maintenance free as well.
