We put the Lance 992 on the new Dodge Dually today.
Took about one and a half hour to complete the job with the two of us. This was the first time, no doubt next time is goes faster. Found out we needed to put an thick sheet of plywood on the rubber mat under the camper because the truck's back bumper would otherwise rub against the sewer tank. I.o.w. we needed to put the camper on the truck 2x, lol. We noticed that the walls of the truck box are a little tapered which was a bit confusing when backing up the first time. We put a 2 x 8 on edge in front of the camper otherwise the camper would hit to top of the box behind the cab. (There are no rubber bumbers on the camper.) The back tie downs we covered with pieces of foam from Canadian Tire, the kind of stuff plumbers put on waterlines for insulation. This to prevent them from scratching the truck in case they vibrate loose. (Happened to us in the past.) Anyhow, she's on there and we are loading her up tomorrow and ready to go up north on tuesday. I noticed that the satellite radio does not work, because the antenna is at the back of the cab u n d e r the camper. I will wire in the old one and stick the old radio on the dash....problem solved. |

You must not have a Happijac tiedown system on your truck, the nylon rub strips on your camper are supposed to touch the plastic on the stablizer bar.Its a very good setup I,ve used it in my last 3 trucks without any issues.

Correct. Lance campers are designed to be used with the Happijac tiedown system. The plastic strips on the front are designed to contact the plastic bumpers on the Happijac stabilizer bar for the correct spacing. The rubber bumpers were discontinued around 2002 or 2003. Gary S: If your dealer is a long time Lance dealer, there may be rubber bumpers in the junk behind the shop. Gary,
Just a tip to raise the camper without the weight of plywood, I use four pieces of basswood that are 8'x2 1/8 by width of truck bed in four place, front, one on each side of wheel wells, and one in the back that fits inside the bed, not the width of the tail gate. It is easy to get the cable to the rear too. My problem is my fifth wheel rails that I have to get above. I have probably hauled my camper 20k miles with this setup. I have a sawmill and a guy gave me this basswood log that he cut out of his yard. I have one 8x8 left. Try to find something lighter weight than the plywood or use four strips of plywood to the height you need. Happy camping and just a tip, Dave Mc DaveMc 2005 Dodge Laramie 4x4 3500 LB DW Six Speed 3.73 with Edge with Attitude, BD exhaust brake.
