I have recently had a few close calls with low bridges that could easily have resulted in a bad accident.

Does anyone know of a good GPS system or add on for my Garmin that would give a low bridge warning?

Something like a speed camera POI list could work, but I can't seem to find anything.

Many thanks.

That would be a good resource as I have had to turn around several times.

I have decided to try a POI database that has been recommended to me on several forums.

You can download it at http://www.lowclearances.com

It looks really good.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the suggestion, I just loaded the POI's as well. Had not heard of these guys before.

Most are marked with clearances. The best thing to do is to park your truck & TC on a flat surface & measure from the ground to the highest point which is usually the A/C. Add 6 inches to account for differing tire pressures stuff in the TC, & the fact there may be slope involved, then put a label on your dash with clearance in both British & metric (for Canada & Mexico)

I've owned several truck campers, travel trailers, and fifth wheels. One of the first things I do when I purchased them was to measure the overall height so I know exaclty where they will or won't pass. In all my RV travels over the last 40 years, I haven't encountered a bridge/overpass that wasn't marked; however, I've had to turn around several times.
