This may not be any help, I have a Dodge and have mounted the regular in/out door antenna(hinged) on the plastic vent in front of the windshield and have very few problems except in heavy trees and bridges. The further north you get and if your back is facing the southwest you may loss the signal. I have found the antenna that I am using is a lot better than the auto antenna. I through the auto antenna out.

I have not put my camper on my new Dodge yet, but I did hear about some problems people were having. I can always put my "house radio" on the dash again and run the wire to the magnetic pad on the hood like I did with the old truck.
For some reason I thought that with the factory installed satellite radios the whole truck was acting as a big antenna.....I guess I'm wrong.

I installed a second antenna on the top bar of my grill guard.

I bought a cheap magnet mount antenna from xmfanstore and just plug in into my xm module (behind the glove box on GM) and attach the mag mount out on my hood area. Works fine.

I did the same as AZuwere. The same XM antenna from my old portable XM receiver is now plugged into the built in XM and the mag mount is on the front of the right front fender. Works well even going north.

I purposely avoided getting XM on my chev because of this issue. I ended up getting Siruis & using a portble docking station, one in my truck, one in the camper & one in the house. I move the radio around. BTW it is easy to extend the FM transmission range if you know how.
