I notice that when I turn on the LP at the water heater, it takes forever for the gas to travel through the lines to the pilot. I turn off the gas at the LP tanks when I am not using the camper. Is it safe to leave the valves open at the LP tanks all the time?

Thanks for the information. I also tend to use my stove top to force the gas through.

I use the same trick with the gas stove.

I would avoid doing that. What I do is light a stove burner and let it run for a minute, that tends to drag the air out of lines.
