I have a 1055 lance but got it without the built in generator. The question is, how are they mounted in the generator compartment? There are four bolts sticking down from the compartment above the generator compartment. So do they hang the generator? The gen's plastic floor could not hold much.

Ok got an e-mail this morning from lance. On my camper the 1055 the generator hangs from those bolts from the above compartment. Now I know.

It depends on which generator your camper was designed to use. The Generac generators are open at the bottom and install as Joe's. The Onans are enclosed in a case with an openings in the bottom for the engine exhaust/cooling system exhaust and for draining the engine oil. There should be a "floor" for the compartment with pre-drilled holes in it to support the Onan.

I've owned Lances equipped with Generac and Onan generators. I prefer an Onan since it's more reliable, less complicated, service parts are easier to locate, and there's a much better factory approved service network. If an Onan would fit in my compartment, I'd replace the Generac.

The Generac generators that were used in our Lances have been discontinued by Generac and are no longer in production.

On my 1121 the gen. is bolted to steel angle irons on each side. which in turn are fastened to the camper with bolts. It looks like the whole box was a kit. JMTCW
