We have been wanting to see this park for years. Finally on our way back from California, we took I 40 and viewed beautiful mountains in California and Arizona.

We stayed at Palo Duro Canyon RV park six miles outside of the park. But we took one whole day to drive thru it. Did you know it is #2 next to the Grand Canyon? We know now. It is absolutely fantastic. What a place to drive around and the beauty of the red and different colored rock and rock formations were well worth the time it took to view the park. There are about four or five campgrounds some with full hookups right in the park. There is winding roads to get into it, but they are not that long.

The view from the visitors center cannot be topped. If you live anywhere near this beautiful park we heartily advise to see it. You won't believe Texas has mountains too. This was well worth gong to see.

They have an outdoor amphetheater and a BBQ they put on right before the show. And they had entertainment on a small stage to entertain you while you waited for time to go and see the show, which is also well worth seeing. A lot of action and music.

Hope people will take the time to see this beautiful park right here in Texas. It is just off I 40 below Amarillo. JUst follow the signs Palo Duro Canyon and they will take you right to the park. We took I 40 to 335 north to 27 north to 217.
where we stayed in our RV park. The canyon is six miles down the road from there.

Happy camping to all, Priscilla and Art Big Grin Big Grin

Annie, we have visited your beautiful state and loved it very much. You have so much there to see and it was a good one for our memories and videos.

You won't be dissapointed if you go to this Palo Duro Canyon. It was such a pleasant surprise to us to find mountains in Texas. And it is to us, prettier than the Grand Canyon. LOts of red stuff as you have in Colorado.

Happy camping, Priscilla Big Grin Big Grin

There are campsites in the park down in the canyon with water and electric hookups, some with only water, and some primitive. We have stayed there many times over the last 30 years.

Here's a link to the park on the Texas State Park website for more information: http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/park/paloduro/

Bill, I just read that site on the Palo Duro Park that you entered. It was very interesting. All that history and the pictures were great too. I hope other people have had a chance to read thru it.
Thanks for the info.

I have a friend that is just learning how to get to sites like this, I wrote it down so I can show her. She will get a thrill to read it.

My camera was very busy during that trip and they came out great.

Thanks again for sharing it.
