Christmas (2007) afternoon we headed west from Louisiana with 3 of our 5 granchildren in search of snow. They have never seen snow and we had hoped of finding some for them. Our plans also included a visit to Carlsbad Caverns, New Mexico then on north in hopes of being able to play in a little snow. We did not have any reservations at any campgrounds which is the way we like to travel, having a Lance we can just about stop anywhere. Our first night was spent at a rest area in west Texas. The next day we were in Carlsbad New Mexico. We were able to tour the caverns which are simply beautiful an the mountain was covered with snow which had fallen the night before. We spent the night at White City RV Park with is at the entrance to the Caverns. It was very clean and safe. We then headed north to Roswell NM, toured the UFO museum and started out north to the mountains and more snow. We were informed of some bad weather coming in from the north with high winds, snow and ice. We decided to go west the Ruidosa NM. This was a great decision, as it is a beautiful little resort area and there was plenty of snow. We found a snow play area for the kids, they slid down the mountain for a whole day on tubes. This fulfilled their dreams of playing in the snow. As we headed back into town in search of a campground for the night it became difficult with the ice and snow. We stopped at a small cafe in Alto, NM and were offered a parking spot at the cafe as long as we did not block the early morning breakfast rush. We slept in their parking lot and had breakfast in the cafe in the morning. The kids had their fill of cold weather and snow so we switched gears and headed west to the White Sands Missel Range, we then drove in to ElPaso Tx and headed down south to Big Bend National Park. The park is magnificent, it was full of beautiful wildlife and cactus. We hiked in the mountains and along the Rio Grande river. We then headed east to historic Judge Roy Bean's Saloon in Langtry Tx, Seminole Canyon State Park and on the Brackettville, Tx. where we toured the movie set for the Alamo at Alamo Village. We camped at Fort Clark Springs RV Resort, which is a very nice campground in Bracketville. It is an old fort for the 5th Cavalry and there are wildlife in and around the campground, the people are very friendly and there are plenty of activities going on daily. We headed in to San Antonio and saw the real Alamo. Our next destination was Pflugerville, Tx. which is where we purchased our Lance camper. We had a little problem with our electrical system and stopped there for repairs. As usual they were prompt and friendly, we even spent the night hooked up to their repair center. If anyone is ever in need of a new camper or service, we highly recommend the drive to Princess Craft Campers in Pflugerville Tx., we were truelly satisfied with our Lance purchase and their service. We headed back home to south Louisiana with wonderful memories to share for a lifetime with our grandsons. Our Lance was perfect for this trip and we plan to travel again soon. Our next trip is Yellowstone in July of this year with our daughters family in their RV and 4 other campers.
Lovin our Lance,
Ron & Marie

cajuncamper,

Sounds like a wonderful trip. I am sure the grandkids will remember it for a long time to come. We hit many of the same places 2 years ago, Carlsbad Caverns, Big Bend, Seminole Canyon State Park & the Alamo. We basically toured Texas for almost 6 weeks. Lots of things to see.
We also visited your town 3 years ago along with Mamou, Eunice, Breaux Bridge, Abbeville & St. Martinville. The food was outstanding & we met a lot of wonderful people down there. We love Cajuns.
