Old man Crocker operated a stage stop on the Harden Flat Toll Road that connected early Yosemite travelers to the final leg of their journey to the valley floor. This spot is rumored to be where the elder Mr. Crocker met his demise.....shortly after confessing his unfaithfulness to the soon to be Widow Crocker......she let out a yell that sent his horse team into a full gallop.... scattering he and his buck board about the mountainside....She survived....and the rest is all history.
