Fellow Lancer's. I taking off on 7-19 from Pasadena to go to the Sonoma Valley on the fly. Without reseverations, were going to land in the evenings when we get tired wherever its safe. Have maps and general game plan. Were going to stay on the coast with the weather being hot. Have some general ideas from Santa Barbara to Monterery. Looking for some interesting ideas and places to stay. Recommended places to eat, sites. Have 10 days to blow. Just site-seeing and relaxing.

thanks,
Poorman

Eric,

Took off for 10 days with no reservations. Drove the entire coast all the way from Ojai,Ca. all the way through San Francisco to Petaluma Ca. for four days of wine tasting and exploring the Sonoma Valley. Drove a total of 1200 miles and the rig handled HWY# 1 like a Porsche. I was in the heart of vacation season in California and didn't really have problems staying the night except for Big Sur and Santa Cruz. We ended up staying at a KOA campgroung in Santa Cruz. It's ok...50,000 kids...$50.00 a night...a real rip-off. Big Sur's state parks and other camping sites were packed. Left on Sunday came back on a Wednesday. There's some serious traffic problems on the #1 from Carmel all the way to San Francisco. Caltrans should add at least two lanes on the north and south bound lanes of the #101. Drove the #101 at different hours for 4 days and It's like Driving traffic in downtown L.A. at 5:00 p.m. on a friday all the time. They have some serious growth problems.

Checked out Connelly's Rod & Reel in Cambria,Ca. and the San Simeon State Park is a far superior place to stay. It's no-contest!! I would'nt let my cat stay at Connelly's R&R. The state park was around $10.00 a night for non-hookups. It was pretty packed but got in with no problem.

Half Moon Bay is a beautiful place...just south of San Francisco and has a nice RV- hook-up's park.

Stayed at a KOA in Petaluma for 4 days without hook-ups because they didn't have any left. Wanted to stay home/based in the area and left each day exploring the coast, and the different sections of the Sonoma Valley.

For the exit of the area took off and went home via the golden Gate bridge
