Daingerfield State Park, http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/park/daingerf/ our favorite state park, is located in northeast Texas in the piney woods near Daingerfield. The park was built originally by the Civilian Conservation Corps, but has been upgraded by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. There is a lake, walking trails, swimming area, multiuse pavilion, rest rooms with hot showers, RV sites with full hookups and camping sites with water and electric connections.

We stayed there on our trip home from TN last week. The trees were beginning to show their fall colors. It was during the week and we were about the only ones there and practically had the park to ourselves. We have visited this park regularly for the last 30 years.

This park is very busy in the summer months and on weekends. Reservations are recommended during those times since it is within a couple of hours driving time to the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Other very nice state parks nearby are Atlanta, Lake Caddo, and Lake Bob Sandlin.
